How to wear Denim this season
April 14th, 2015
It may sound kind of obvious today to say that Denim is a super strong trend this season, but it really is. You can find it in flares, culottes, shirts, overalls, skirts, jackets and more. This week I will be doing a photoshooting about this trend and will show it to you very soon. In the meantime here I give you a few tips on how to wear denim this season and master it:
The flares: The easiest way to tap the 70’s trend is with jeans, Flares to be more precise. For me, Zara, Uterque, Topshop and Mango are making flares with a great fit and price, but if you can invest a little more, I recommend you Citizens of Humanity, I just love the way they fit. Now, you may be wondering what to wear with flares, well, here proportion is everything, you can wear them with the structured tee (in suede, denim or leather), the sporty bralet ( please only if you have abs and arms fit enough to show), or the enlongated tunic which has wonderful skimming and slimming capabilities.
The Shirt dress: I think this is a piece that suits every type of body, and you can wear it with gladiator sandals, ankle boots or ballerinas depending on the ocassion and it can even work as an office dress, you just have to add a nice belt to make it look more chic.
Dust off your denim jacket: You can wear them literally with anything and it will always add a fresh touch to your outfit. This season you can find the denim jacket from the fitted version as seen on Burberry to the oversized /boyfriend style, I just bought one these and took it to the seamstress to put some colorful patches on.
Denim on Denim: This may be an intimidating look for some of you, so if you want to give it a try, start out by pairing different shades of denim together, like white jeans and a blue denim jacket, or black jeans and a chambray shirt. It’s almost impossible to go wrong this way. You can also dress up your double denim with statement heels, a tuxedo blazer, or fabulous red lips. What you must avoid is the matchy matchy look, so dont wear denim that is all the same wash and also please keep the jeans confined to your clothing and just say no to denim shoes, a denim hat, a denim, handbag, or any other accessory.
