How to wear a Kimono according to your body type
May 12th, 2017
If there is a perfect spring/summer layering piece you can wear in your everyday life, that’s the Kimono.Effortlessly covers your flaws and adds to your confidence. You can wear a kimono over jeans during the cooler nights, over a dress or of course over a bikini when you feel like hiding. Today I am going to show you how to wear it according to your body type.
If you are tall (and by that I mean higher than 5′ 7), the long Kimono was made for you….you can wear long kimonos with colorful prints, and can combine them on a fabric in another print, making that combined-decomposed blend that is so fashionable today but only a few can wear, To the tall girls the mixture of prints favors them, it does not shorten them as to the little ones or widen like the curvilinear ones. Right now there are great low cost options on ZARA, ASOS and H&M.
For the not tall girls, I recommend wearing the kimono over a single tone, for example on a black dress, or a skirt and top in the same color, so there will not be so much information in your look, which would make you look shorter. I recommend that the length of the kimono would be short or midi and of course wear high heels.
For very skinny girls I recommend wearing wide kimonos with fringes, on strong colored backgrounds or with striking patterns, which will balance a little how skinny they are, giving proportion to the look and increasing the volume of the body.
For the girls with curves I suggest wearing a short, never long kimono (as it will look like you are hiding in it), and even better in monochrome tones, without much stamping or with sober prints, ideally in white, black or neutral tones.
For pregnant women the kimono is the ideal garment; Comfortable, loose and fresh, and makes them look beautiful. Really; If you are pregnant this is your moment because I believe that there was never a garment so fashionable that it would look better to pregnant women!. Wear it with a comfortable, one-color elasticated cotton dress and kimono over and ready! So easy you will have a beautiful look, elegant and simple. You can use it for the day to day and even for a more formal event and parties if you a stament necklace or some more elegant shoes!
As you can see, there are no excuses to not be wearing a kimono this season, just find the one that fits better your body shape, put some nice shoes and a big smile on your face and you will be more than ready to rock the day/night.
